We dropped of our 14 month old miniature bull terrier bear who was constantly and confused how to separate excitement from biting and was making our lives so hard so we decided to call stephen who we found on the internet. all his reviews were great and now we see why he listened to what our problems were and agreed to take our dog for a month for board training. 1 month later we picked him up and to our suprise bear came back like a different dog his biting has near on completely stopped he listens to all of our commands with simple tools stephen taught us to keep him calm we couldn't have been happier and can now spend nice times with our boy.
We were recommended to stephen and are so pleased we were. we have a fox red lab/visla and he is affectionate, alert and energetic. he is a big dog and very powerful. we have had him since a puppy and done various training with him. his recall was about 80% and he was generally pretty good .however, sometimes, out of the blue, he would snap and even bite. then be very sorry afterwards. we found the situation very difficult, he is a family dog and we did not know what to do. we were worried his behaviour would escalate, we were losing our confidence and we wanted to enjoy having the dog. being so big and fast we also needed to know we were fully in control, and we were not. we spoke to stephen who very quickly helped us to understand what our options were and various reasons why jem maybe behaving in this way. we took jem for an assessment and then he stayed with stephen and tom for 4 weeks. they turned our world upside down in such a good way. we had worked hard at previous training but they taught us a whole new philosophy on how to be with the dog and it immediately made sense and felt so much more natural. we had been micro managing the dog and neither the dog nor us were spending enough time relaxing in our own space. stephen spent 4 weeks with jem resetting his routine and we had a couple of lessons to show us how to take over. we are enjoying the new routine, and it has transformed our walks. we are now working with the dog, rather than feeling the pressure to keep telling him what to do then rewarding him. we are more relaxed and confident and the dog is more relaxed and in confident in us. we thought we were at a dead end but it is like a fresh start and lead walking, being on his own, relaxing with us and time on walks have all improved dramatically to be honest we are enjoying it now even more than we thought we would before we decided to get a dog. we are learning, the dogs learning and that’s so much more fun than being taught or being the teacher!
We found stephen and tom online and although we didn’t have serious issues with our black labrador elton, he needed some work. elton did the four week residential course and the results have been brilliant. his whistle recall is near perfect and the loose lead walking has been a revelation. the follow up session the week after was also very useful for us as the owners to show what we need to continuously be working on. i can’t recommend bulled & son highly enough.
I reached out to stephen for his assistance with our deaf 7 year old romanian street rescue dog josie, who we’d had for 1.5 years. she was aggressive to other dogs, had tried to bite us many times, was starting to become aggressive to our 13 year old yorkie & was unable to be easily groomed or washed. we had been working unsuccessfully with a behaviourist prior and had reached our limits due to safety of being around josie. we had decided the tough decision to return her to the rescue but then found stephen 4 days before. to say stephen was our last resort would be an understatement. initial contact initial contact is through whatsapp and stephen makes it clear what they can/can’t do, prices and what is involved. i had queries re feeding etc and these were answered quickly. after this, an assessment takes place. assessment the assessment is approx 1 hour where stephen determines whether he can help or not. for us, this was us sharing the issues we had with josie and what we really needed help with. he spent time listening (& challenging us on what we had or hadn’t done to help her). thankfully, he said he was able to help and she was left there for an initial 4 weeks (we extended to 5.) training you have to trust the process with stephen. i love my dogs dearly & am used to knowing their every move. you will need to let that go as this training isn’t about regular detailed updates but rather stephen focusing on the issues at hand. from the updates and videos we did get, it was clear josie was being put through her paces. a big part of stephen’s training focuses on food and the dogs reliance on it. that is a game changer for us as it’s meant we now know how to have positive interactions with josie. re grooming josie, stephen had gotten her to a state of trust that he was able to scissor cut her entire face and muzzle- something we had to have done once a year under sedation at vets when she would get her teeth cleaned. handover and follow up stephen’s training comes from years of experience so ask as many questions as you need to in the handover and follow ups. we asked everything we needed to & in our weekly follow up had specific things we wanted to tap into - stephen was happy to tailor this all for us and ensure we left knowing exactly what we needed to do. outcome ultimately the outcome is as best as we could have imagined - we can keep our dog. josie now has recall (which i didn’t think was possible for a deaf dog), she is now able to be washed without issue & no muzzle, brushed, and we now know how we can keep building her trust so we can trim her face her safely. the training from stephen has been second to none and it is absolutely a worthy investment for us. we were at our wits end (emotionally and physically) with josie, and to now know we have a dog we can keep safely is fantastic. please note you must keep up the training that stephen has done. paying a lot of money & expecting the changes to stay is ludicrous- we also have to do the work to keep josie ion track. all in all, this has changed our lives with josie & in our house. thank you stephen, we are so appreciative.
I have had 5 session with stephen and tom to help train my dobermans puppy margo she was 5 months when we started the first session. she is now listening to me and walking beautifully on the lead, recall is great, impulse training brilliant, and she is so much calmer. we worked on all of the above then they added the distraction of other dogs which was priceless. can't thank you both enough for making it very simple and easy to follow. going back next year for some more advanced training and will continue with sessions when l need some help. lindy and margo
