🐟🍟 best cod and chips in town 🍟🐟 if you are visiting london, you need to go to the mayfair chippy and try their cod and chips! 😍 the fish is flaky and soft, while the batter is crunchy and light 🤤 the chips are perfectly cooked as well! crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside 🥰 the sauces are super nice too! also, if you are gluten intolerant then they have a gluten free version just for you, which is just as delicious (my friends words 😉). i can say that they make one of the best fish and chips i've ever had! 😍 the restaurant interior is so cute and cozy 💕 perfect place for lunch or dinner!
Visiting london and we’re looking for a fish n chips dinner on the fly. this one popped up on maps, so we went for it. they had no room, but accommodated us with seating outside. very pleasant people! son liked the fish n chips. i ordered a veggie dish which was a pretty tasty alternative. can’t give much insight to the indoor ambiance, but outdoor seating worked for us. very lively area during the evening.
What an experience to have visited this place. there was no line and they accepted us with no reservations.the hostess was friendly and quick to help us decide the great options they had. we started with their mussels and cream sauce which were probably some of the best combo we ever had. we also started with deep fried squid which had a little spice to it but it was very crispy. lastly the main reason to visit this michelin star restaurant. the classic fish and chips. the light coating and crispy crunch from the fresh fish was top notch. to make it even better, they had three sauces which was just a delight to dip the fish into it. never would of had cury with fish and chips but it works so dam well. the mushy peas and tartar sauce were great blend to match the fish. lastly probably one the best chips i had in my life. crispy on the outside and super creamy and fluffy on the inside. can’t not wait to come back!
There are a few good things that stand out at mayfair chippy, and those are the fish, as both the haddock and cod traditional deep fried fish were really good (moist inside and crunchy outside) and chips (love it, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside). the mushy peas were actually edible, and i almost never have mushy peas because i find most of them pretty mediocre, but the one served in mayfair chippy is actually good. i understand why this particular shop is often regarded as one of the best fish and chips shops in london. they have been on the michelin guide since 2015! now on to the negatives, first of all the service wasn’t particularly good. i understand that it was packed and busy, but never did i feel welcome at the restaurant. the mussels we had were pretty terrible, loads of shriveled up small mussels, with lots of closed shells, and quite bland. i wouldn’t recommend if. finally, it’s pricey! i’m not sure if the additional cost (£24 with service charge) for fish and chips is reasonable - especially when fish and chips is supposed to be an affordable meal. so, while i do recommend you try fish and chips at mayfair chippy. don’t get the mussels. i can’t say it is good value for money though.
The loveliest place in an amazing location. the staff were so friendly and the wait time was reasonable given how busy they were. but the food was where it was truly amazing, i would wait in a cue. best fish and chips for sure. the sides were unique and tasty. such fresh food and good quality. the fish was cooked perfectly and not too dry, the batter was so crisp and well seasoned. great drinks menu too. a must visit if looking for british fish and chips or just fish and chips even. 🤤
