I love this place, have gone there more than once. the meat selection and sides and everything are nice. last time though the meat was tougher for medium rare cooked. i had to use my knife and fork carefully while cutting so as not to drop the plate. and the table was slippery.
We booked online and arrived a little early but got seated fairly quickly. we were served promptly and despite a busy restaurant, the food was served in great time. one of the steaks served with the hot plate had a lot of fat and gristle on but after mentioning to a waiter, it was swapped with no fuss for a much better cut of meat. the steaks were succulent and tasted great with the additional butter, salt and sauce. the chips were hot and crispy and the veg was very tasty. the staff were all attentive and keeping the restaurant clean and tidy. the restaurant itself was a little crowded and the toilets are tiny but that's the price to pay for london real estate!
One of the best dining experiences i've had and definitely the best in london, but keep in mind i was there for only 10 days. the place was cozy and the decor was nice. our waitress was a delight, she was friendly, personable and could carry a conversation. we could not decide on a wine and our waitress recommended two, which she let us try, she was right about both and bought a bottle. i had noticed that they had the steak stone, which allows you to cook your steak yourself at the table and was something i always wanted to try. however, i did have some reservations about cooking steaks at the table but our waitress assured us it was easy and she was right. they provide a hot stone salt, butter and sauce of your choice. place some butter on the stone then fry the presliced steak to your liking. we both ordered the sliced fillet steaks, and they were incredible, tender and juicy. it was so good that i didn't want it to end. the sides, particularly the mac and cheese were just as good. if you're visiting london you need to add steak and company to your list of restaurants to visit. i know i will when i go back.
Not bad but not great, i have mixed reviews. the service was good with friendly staff. avoid getting a table in the middle, feels like we’re in a hallway and in the way of everyone. the acoustics aren’t great. i couldn’t hear my party very well. the steaks are good, though nothing out of this world. 5 stars = amazing memorable steak, 4 stars = pretty good. worth going and for what you pay good value.
Really good steaks. and i love steaks and i am very critical. we were there end of march in the afternoon hours and had no problems to get a table without reservation. have ordered rumpsteak and filetsteak medium plus fries and everything was really delicious and perfectly grilled as ordered. the service was friendly and attentive. absolutely recommendable!
