Newcastle Castle

A small but fascinating castle on the centre of Newcastle. A really interesting piece of architecture that you can see from far away. A key stop on any Newcastle site seeing trip.

wonderful view from the top; very nice staff; was enjoying wandering around the castle and even met sweet 'Mary Bruce' 😀😃🙂

A great place to see. Lots of steps so mind your self. But its worth the visit and the staff were nothing but welcoming and helpful

The Castle, built on a Roman fort, reminds residents of the region and its visitors of the turbulent past of northern England. You will pass through its high walls and cross the Black Gate to enter an environment marked in the past by the presence of kings and villains. While strolling through the old corridors and rooms of Newcastle Castle, you will discover the places where kings spent their days. In addition, as you walk through its chambers you will relive the times in which this fortress served as a meeting point for armies and as a prison for criminals. I strongly recommend visiting

Very interesting castle and well restored. Lots of stairs but much easier to get around than some other castles that I've visited. And, of course, amazing views from the top!
