Modest obelisk in town centre park.

It's just a memorial obelisk dedicated to George Elliot, apart from this teenagers and some of the unsavoury kind hang around here.

Originally the obelisk was located within the grounds of Arbury Hall and wreaths were first laid on 22nd November 1934. The obelisk was moved to its present location prior to the George Eliot Memorial Gardens being officially opened on 1st May 1952
