The Box

If you’re ever in Plymouth. The box is definitely one museum you have to experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A beautiful art gallery and archive with so much to learn. Remember to go a bit early to have enough time to go through most things if not everything. Different varieties of bird species, fishes, butterflies, insects just to mention a few. Had a wonderful experience and the real life sized mammoth is definitely a must see. Would definitely go back to read more as I could not finish as it was time to close. Would definitely recommend.

Well it's been updated...but apart from some ships figureheads and a dead elephant there's not that much new. That's not to say as it's not worth seeing, it is, just don't be prepared for a wonder box of newness. The box is however now .uch more wheelchair/ disabled friendly. All flat and excess able with lifts. You do need help with some of the doors ,but there are lots of helpers about. Very nice people, full of knowledge. The only not so good bit is the cafe prices. If you are going to eat the pizza is the best value. The adult all day breakfast at £13 is really sparse for the price. The food it self was well cooked and good ingredients, but 1 sausage, 2bacon 1 egg, some beans half a tomato and 1 piece of toast, really over priced. The waiting staff were lovely and the drinks were good. The last time I went was before the box was built. Would I leave it a few years till the next time?? Probably. Unless something exciting is being exhibited. Certainly worth a first visit.

An excellent day out with something for everyone. From fine art to a woolly mammoth 🦣. Entry is free. Cafe is fabulous. Special events running through the holidays, such as crafting for younger children. Highly recommend I will definitely return.

Definitely worth visiting! I was surprised how great the museum is. It's much bigger than it seems at first. It has very interesting and impressive exhibits with modern technology

Mix of maritime, art, war, natural history and TV/media exhibits. All free to visit and able to move around accessibly. Room guides were informative and helpful. Loved recording the new in front of a green screen. Delicious food in the café and the shop had quality stuff.
