I was most definitely one of the ‘it will never happen to me’ people, but when i started my life insurance policy through ross at sirius financial, i followed his expert guidance and opted for the additional serious illness cover. just a mere 8 years after starting the policy and at age 42 i received a breast cancer diagnosis and my world was turned upside-down. i was healthy, fit, active, didn’t smoke or drink so it came as quite a shock. i am, however, one of the lucky ones that can and is being cured and during my 6 months of chemotherapy i received a very welcome pay out from my policy. this has taken all pressure off for the remainder of my treatment process and will make a huge impact on my future. i have a way to go yet but i can now focus on myself and my recovery without having to worry about money. i am so very grateful to both ross and my younger self for being so sensible! you honestly never know what is around the corner so paying out a little extra every month to ensure you will be covered if the unthinkable comes your way is a very small price to pay in my eyes.
