I can thoroughly recommend Material Things. We wanted a large L-shaped sofa of a specific size to fit our living room and were pleased to discover that Material Things was a relatively local company offering a bespoke service. The fact that they manufacture onsite was also a bonus in my eyes. Their sales consultant Stuart Munro provided a very welcome mixture of warmth, wit and professional competence. He helped us to create what was a mixture of two of their standard designs. The only issue that arose was the lack of the promised inspection of a single section of this 3-section sofa to ensure that all was well before the rest of the sofa was constructed. This was due to a misunderstandiong in the workshop related to Stuart being off with a Covid infection. Unfortunately, the seat depth was too great for my thighs and the sofa had to be partially rebuilt. Throughout the process, Stuart made it clear that they would do whatever it took to make us happy customers. He achieved that objective!

From start to finish, we have been delighted with the process of purchasing our sofa bed and chairs. Stuart in the shop was really helpful and the workmanship involved in making our furniture has been excellent. Thoroughly recommend this company!

Had 2 sofas made & delivered. Great service nothing was to much trouble when we spent several hours choosing what covering we wanted. Delivery was not straight forward, had to remove bed from the sofa bed but the guys got them in with out any damage to sofas or house. Our previous sofa was from Material Things same sevice then so it was a no brainer to go back.

This has to be the best furniture shop in Portsmouth. It's situated in the Farlington industrial estate on Fitzherbert Road. The choice of quality sofas, chairs and curtains are second to none. The staff were both courteous and friendly. So if you are looking for sofas chairs or curtains, then I can highly recommend this furniture shop.
