Beautifully presented little art gallery on the edge of the city centre. friendly and knowledgable staff and comfortable surroundings make this place a welcome oasis - as others have said - in a sometimes bleak and modern landscape.
Great little place. interesting exhibitions. shame the council is letting such a beautiful building rot though
Graves gallery is the smallish municipal art museum in sheffield, housed on the 3rd floor of the imposing building that is the city's central library. about 5 minutes from sheffield station. entry is free, and photography is allowed. unfortunately, some of the galleries are closed at the moment for refurbishing, so we're temporarily left with some contemporary art (permanent) and an interesting temporary exhibit on the works of sheffield sculptor george fullard. his works and the fact that the nearby millennium gallery is also an interesting art venue make graves gallery worth a visit despite the momentary limitations.
The graves art gallery is a wonderful arts space in the heart of sheffield, close to the crucible and lyceum theatres, and the winter garden. it's on the 3rd floor of the library building. there's an impressive arts collection, with changing exhibitions on a variety of topics. it's well worth a visit.
Nice range of classic and contemporary works of art on the third floor of the city library. i spent around 1 hour looking at several masterpieces. many artists to mention here. the staff are friendly. just turn up and appreciate the paintings, sculptures and a long tapestry too. i definitely would recommend another visit.
