This larger than life Edwardian statue was built from bronze by Alfred Drury in 1913 to commemorate King Edward VII. He was Queen Victoria's eldest son and reigned from 1901 to 1910. The statue is imposing, keeping a close eye on the Fitzalan Square tram stop. It is now Grade II listed.

Edward VII, King of the United Kingdom, King of the Commonwealth of Nations and Emperor of India. He was the son of Queen Victoria and the first monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg, whose son King George V changed his name to the House of Windsor.
