Stunning cathedral and lovely people caretaking it. i am not a spiritual man, but once a year wherever i am, i find a church/cathedral and light a candle for my dad. sheffield cathedral was the perfect place for that, and some quiet contemplation.
My second visit to sheffield cathedral this year gave me the opportunity to spend some quiet time in reflection, surrounded by the most beautiful stained glass and stone work. it was lovely to speak with one of the guides who gave me background about my favourite window and explained what happened to the stained glass during the war. there is a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere in the cathedral and there was a steady stream of visitors whilst i was there. it’s well worth a visit if you like stained glass and local history. there is a tram stop just outside.
Lovely cathedral in centre on sheffield. free to get in and has ramps and lifts for wheelchair users. beautiful tranquil place with lovely stained glass windows.
Truly an astonishing sight. for such an old cathedral both the interior and exterior were in spotless condition. the glass windows are worth visiting and the parking was easy and cheap.
Stunning architecture! i appreciated it more after learning about the history of this site. i often walk past here and never knew that it was open 365 days a year, has a cute little café inside and guided tours. this the oldest building in sheffield. the people of sheffield have been worshiping here since the year 1200.
