Holy Cross Church ruins

Interesting local site. I think it was the only Parish church between North Shields and Newcastle for a long time The current Church, St.Peter's, near Burnside High School, replaced it in 1809.

It's exactly what you see in the photo. Still nice to visit if you're looking to diversify your walks.

Interesting to see, it's fenced off (though believe it has been for years) so can't really go explore up close but assume this it to protect it.
