Haven't been here since 1975, as a kid, when my dad took me round. the floorboards are as creaky as i remember, but a lot of the small items on display have gone. was interesting to hear about the extensive work done to save this lovely old building from falling apart. it had undergone many alterations by dodgy builders in its distant past, so needed a lot of help. the gardens and cafe are also worth checking out, as is the cannon up on the battlements.
Superb place to visit. lots to see.lots to express. garden is beautiful. if you have time go for a tour. cafe good. toilets superb spotlessly clean.
We enjoyed our walk around the tudor house and garden, especially the interactive parts. the children enjoyed it too (aged 3, 4 and 8). it was really interesting.
Lovely place to visit, bigger than it looks and friendly staff. they guy who served us going in is getting married soon so good luck and the lady in the cafe keep on making those lovely cheese scones.
If you have a chance to visit southampton and you love history, this is the place for you. this place has been standing for over 800 years and i applaud the effort to keep the place standing. the garden area is beautiful and i learned a lot about the house as i walked around each section.
