Haughton Dale Nature Reserve

Nice quiet place running alongside a river with woods and a large open field. We parked down a steep decrepit lane after following Google Maps, and nearly could drive out.

Walking or cycling this is a good place with access from the A6017, Stockport Sports Village and the Peak Forest Canal. Scenery is good but not stunning, you can park yourself by the River Tame and relax by one of the weirs or in the Hulme Wood area. While not a crowded area you seldom feel isolated or alone.

Today was my first visit after seeing it recommended on Facebook. Absolutely beautiful place, perfect for walking the dog or having a nice stroll and a picnic. There is also a dog friendly pop up cafe on the Denton side of the river. We will definitely be coming here again in the future.
