My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and his attending special school one of my friend talk to me about kumon i have decided to register him with the kumon since he started kumon helped him to develop his attitude with his learning in english he can read and writing also understand what is in the text and doing his homework by him self and his the most intelligent in their class thank you kumon for the harder working you're doing
Since my son has started going to kumon he has started doing very well at school. nearly every week he is star of the week and just last week he has received special award at school for his good reading and writing. it was the best decision that i made for my son. thank you so much to all the staff at kumon.
My first child started attending the centre about 11 years ago when she was just 5 years old. the kumon helped her to develop very good attitude towards independent learning and she is always ahead of her colleagues in school in mathematics. she has finished her gcse with excellent results, but still want to continue with mathematics in kumon as she believes it will help with her a level preparation in mathematics. the english aspect is also very good as it helps in development of good understanding of passages and critical reasoning. my other 2 children are also following the footsteps of their big sister and the whole family having their daily dose of kumon. keep up with the great work.
My son has been engaging with kumon for approx 1 and a half years. pros- cconsistency in daily worksheets targeting individual development. support in class from tutors and on-hand via telephone for you to contact regarding concerns, achievements or advice. noticeable progression in speed/performance. a commitment to learning between tutor, child and parent. the use of an performance chart whereby performance is measured. this is shown to parents as a good visual tool to identify trends in performance. a good way of recognising dips too so steps can be taken. it is not easy, all need to be commited from tutor, child and parent. but it is worth it, i am proud of my child's progress. cons- it does require a parent's motivation and patience. they are children and learning these skills themselves and if we give up or slack, well, they will too. not so much a con, but the negative i've heard about kumon has always been from a parent who couldn't manage the situation when their child was not motivated or having a bad day. on these days, i tell the tutor we had a bad day or struggled and they have always managed to get us back on track.
