Audio history or written word self-tour, there is an upstairs but a lift is available. some interesting artefacts, pictures, silver objects and guild banners. there is a café but did not have opportunity to test it out.
Very interesting historical building in york. 50% off for english heritage members. we left with a doubt about this painting up in the hall. it seemed to us like as the two only women in the painting were “photoshopped” because there were only men in the original painting??? 🤔
This is a great little museum in york city centre. if you are an english heritage member, you get 50% off, otherwise entry if £6.50 per adult and under 16s are free and it also has a small cafe. you spend around 40 mins here and you get a guide to read as you go around, there are also sings in each room. it's definitely worth a visit when in york.
Really enjoyed my visit here at last. entrance is via steps from the street or there is a level access nearby. if you have the eh card then entrance is 50% so i paid £2.75 only great value. from the entrance you get to see the lower part & chapel & then upstairs is the main hall reached by stairs or a lift for the disabled. it is a magnificent building & hopefully a few of my photos will do it credit. there is a cafe & you can sit outside. 5*
We hired the hall for our wedding day and couldn't have found a better venue, it has so much character and is so beautiful, you barely need to decorate it. the chapel was perfect for our marriage blessing and the great hall the best possible setting for a banquet meal! rob and the team were so helpful and calm throughout and really reassured us with any questions or help we needed. thank you so much! holly and gabriel.
