I came across Blak Bear as a walk in customer by pure chance as I am not from York. I was instantly impressed with the atmosphere and shops overall decor as I walked past the shop window. In the end I ended up blowing another barbers off that I had seen originally and liked the look of on social media. Upon entrance of Blak Bear, I was greeted friendly by a member of staff who told me they did walk ins and answered all my questions that I had. Within 5 minutes I was met with Ollie G who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He offered me a beer and away he went. Now my hair is dead straight and a lot of barbers can sometimes struggle doing a skin fade. For his first attempt he did a cracking job, and I am very happy with the outcome. He showed experience and knowledge about straight hair and understood what I needed, along with being sociable and chill. The atmosphere of the place was teaming with a buzz and it reminded me of my own barbers in Hull. Edgy, professional and overall social. Could not recommend the place enough it was a great first impression and I will be back again. All I will say is it seems pricey for what it is, but with it being York centre I would expect it was the norm in comparison to Hull prices. Thanks again Ollie , have a great weekend with the family. 😄

Oli K is a superb barber. I have been having my hair cut with him for months now and honestly, it’s the best cut in town! Great chap, busy barber with a good vibe and amazing skill. Highly recommend!
