The Fisherman's Wife Fish & Chips, York

Really nice fish and chips and very friendly staff. Was just staying over a couple of nights in York and really glad we found this place. The staff serving were very generous and I would definitely recommend the food.

This used to be a great chippy when the couple from Bridlington owned it and the local family before that going back to around 1985. BUT they're overpriced compared to other local much better Chippys and mostly cannot get the basics right of how to fry Chips, having no set standards for quality like picking out the burnt chips or shaking the grease off the chips before serving. Their portion sizes are small also and they don't do large portions of Chips or small portions of Peas. I've not had Fish from here for a long time so cannot really comment on that but we pay for good quality food and you're just not delivering on that anymore which is very disappointing. May benefit from some Staff Training to get back up to a higher standard like some of your other TFW Chippys.

Superb Fish & Chips and a friendly welcome. Had Small Fish, small chips and Mushy Peas for £7. The fish was plenty big enough and with light tasty batter. My friends all had fab food too.
