Beautiful hotel, with stunning communal areas. room i has was basic, but comfortable. nice bathroom. breakfast was good, and the lunch we had which was as part of a corporate package, was equally as nice. would stay here again.

Staying in this hotel for four nights, 1st night in the siding building room, which was really hot and noisy. then we asked reception if we can change to main building, yes for £10 extra per night . then we moved to main building from second day, very good stay overall. room is very clean and service is very professional. also good variety of breakfast! my partner left her belt in the previous room, the housekeeping team helped her to find it finally and post it to us using special delivery service. really appreciate it and will visit again next time in yorkshire!

I'd like to thank georgina and her catering team and the chef for making my visit for lunch extra special this week. i wanted to treat a special guest and they went out of their way to make our lunch special. thanks to the staff in the garden room and the chefs that made our visit extra special!

So glad that we stayed at the principal hotel on our first night in england first of all, the location is perfect. it’s walkable to every attraction in the old city and right next door to the train station was terrific loved our suite and my wife thought the bathtub was divine home to our favorite breakfast spot in england and my favorite was afternoon tea in the garden room fabulous staff i will return

First off it’s a minute walk from the train station which is really handy if you are on public transport. the gardens are wonderful and they are very picturesque. the room we originally booked was a double garden view but because we arrived early they upgraded the room to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. the room was of course immaculate and the neutral tones felt relaxing. the bed was comfy. bathroom was pristine and the shower was lovely too. the hotel is stunning and amazing to walk around at night. breakfast had a good varied selection. overall you get what you pay for which is 5 star.
