The Raj Indian Restaurant - York Indian Restaurant and Takeaway

Lovely meal last night (3 of us) my chicken pathia was perfect. From Kent and we’ve been numerous times since 2017. This is a superbly clean well run restaurant serving delicious food. Raj (boss) and his accommodating team are always happy to help with menu choices. We find it best to arrive early evening.

A little rough around the edges but at the end of the day it’s just a standard Indian restaurant experience. The food was nice enough but exceptionally spicy, I eat quite a bit of Indian food and I think they over spice the food here. Prices are generally what you would expect.

I had the chicken dopiaza what can I say the best curry I have had in York. The food was well cooked and portions are good and the food was ready in around 15 minutes. Waiter staff were friendly and polite they even arranged seating for a large group of people that turned up from the street. I would recommend this place. When I am next in York I will be going back there for a curry.

All I want is value for money poppadoms pickle tray set the mood. Needless to say for me after that not so much. My meal imo lacked spice and it was a special with a medium curry. (Didn't even break a sweat) Ordered keema naan decent size but the filling was flat literally flat ...it had slide down inside the actual naan if u can picture that . No fresh limes for tonic water ..
