As a member, I was able to walk in quite quickly. Steep steps up to the main entrance. They have installed a rather good internal structure that allows you inside and up without putting undue stress on the fabric of the building. Some great views from the top.

It's a good heritage site. With this name we thought it will bi very big monument, but it's actually situated on on small hill kind of structure. It is very old structure but new roof deck gives unrivalled views over York's historic skyline, with its medieval buildings and famous Minster. Inside, new walkways and staircases have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries, and immersive soundscapes and stories are bringing the tower’s turbulent history to life like never before. It is also known with another name as Eye of York due to the long and good visibility you get from the top of this structure. The ticket amount is not that much worth but still old monument you can visit. It's also have facility of washroom inside.

Such an amazing piece of history. The people who work there at the front are absolutely amazing, they talk you through so you don't miss anything out that you might want to see. Also it's worth it for the amazing view from the top.

Stunning example of architecture from the 1000’s that’s been refit with modern lighting and platforms. The view from the top of the tower is incredible and you can see all of York. You’ll also be able to see the chapel, latrine and plaques about the history of the tower and castle throughout the last one thousand years. There are stairs everywhere so if you have a pram, you’ll have to ask the person at the bottom of the stairs to watch it for you. The ticket office is in the doorway so I recommend buying your ticket online to enter quicker and get a discounted price. Very child friendly

Well worth a visit, it's a beautiful place. English heritage have done a fantastic restoration. Inside the tower there are many information boards describing the history of the tower from its very beginning up to modern day. The roof terrace is fantastic and a must-see if you can cope with the spiral staircase! The views of York and surrounding countryside are wonderful any time of year.
