One of our best finds when it comes to restaurants, we’re so glad to have caught this place while it’s still relatively new. It really feels like we’ve discovered a hidden(ish) gem! Service was really friendly and chilled which matched the atmosphere nicely. Prices were extremely fair for the quality of food and the menu was comprehensive without feeling overdone. Interior was equally great, everything you need with nothing you don’t. After ordering a varied range of dishes between the four of us, we watched as our food was all made by a singular chef from scratch simultaneously. Seriously impressed by the care put into the food and the transparency to show it off. The food took the right amount of time - It isn’t super fast and that’s a good thing. Everything is made with soul and it makes a huge difference - the cocktails are only £5 and equally incredible so it’s easy to stay occupied! All in all just an absolute 10/10 and we’ll 100% be back!

What a hidden gem! This is such a lovely cosy little restaurant. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced and the cocktails were gorgeous (and cheap). The staff were so friendly and welcoming, would definitely recommend.

Was so lucky to stumble upon this place on a quiet evening! Had a heavenly plate of nachos and a considerable number of delicious cocktails over the course of a few hours, for less than £25 all together! Three weeks and three visits later, and Batanga is fast becoming a real favourite for my partner and I! The food is always incredible and they have a great selection of cheap cocktails. The owners are really lovely, and they've got a great thing going here!

The most lovely evening and delicious food! Lovely to sit and chat with the owners who are totally committed to providing a high quality and good value experience amongst the over priced and touristy places in York! Well worth the visit.
