Hazel Court Household Waste Recycling Centre

tried to book a space on Sunday 12/07/2026 for garden waste, no spaces available until Monday 13/07/06 17.00 so booked the space. travelling from Bishopthorpe at this time of afternoon is very unpredictable with traffic coming from work so I set off at 16.15 arrived on site at 16.35 straight onto site and up the hill with no traffic in front of me at the top I was turned away for being early, there was 3 other cars in the tip!! the place was deserted! staff informed me that I couldn't be more than 15 minutes early and they sent me off site to park up and wait by this time 8 minutes to then come back on site!! ridiculous or what!! When I came back I asked how late I could be for an appointment and was told that if I was more than 10 minutes late I would be refused entry and told to go away and book another appointment. is this more than my jobs worth or am I missing something.

Very well organised and tidy with helpful staff.

Staff are helpful, the site is efficient and well designed, you can't really blame them as the only hold ups are the people using it being slow or too many going at the same time. Try quieter times to avoid the wait.

Very helpful staff. Lots of areas for difference types of rubbish. Very easy to offload rubbish. I live nearer to the Strensall depot but there you have to climb up steps to get to the trailers whereas Hazel Court is all on the flat. That makes it much easier for me with two arthritic knees.

Well organised centre, all the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The centre is also very tidy.

The staff working here are not only a credit to YCC but honestly a credit to the country When every other public service seems to be falling apart and/or impossible to navigate - it’s so reassuring to see some public money going towards a well run and professionally handled organisation managed by hard working, engaging and passionate individuals Keep up the good work!!
