Faultless visit. A great day out with amazing beautiful views - even from the overflow car park! Entry is at very low cost (£5.50 Inc gift aid). It is really well kept and it is a large area that sits on a hill side (be prepared for that). We saw everything but were quite efficient so got it all done in 4 hours. We went on an incredibly sunny day but the gardens offer lots of shaded areas which makes it a great place to go on those summer days. The cafe is nice inside and sells high quality produce at expected prices for this type of establishment. Lots of people had brought picnics which works well as there are ample areas for this. There was also a children's play area but we didn't really see that as we don't have kids. Lots of people also had dogs too (didn't see one bit of dog mess though). If you live within an hour you'd be mad not to give the place a visit.

It is amazing for a day out, hiking and walking in nature. Very relaxing, we spotted some wildlife life as well, like deers. It's definitely worth seeing this place. There is a place for children to play, coffee shop. Definitely, you will need hiking boots. Only the gardens it took us 2 hours.

Our first visit and we loved it. It is a perfect place to bring the family. Free entry for national trust members or just over £5 if not, which is a great price as you can literally spend all day here. It has a parkland walk which is just over a mile and then a large garden walk which you can get a map for and is easy to follow, this allows you to see all the garden has to offer. The castle ruins are great to explore and a fantastic picnic spot. There is also a tearoom with a secondhand bookshop and a large playground for children. It was a great place to visit.

Lovely National Trust location. I met up with a friend here where we went on a lovely long walk in the fields, went up to the top of the castle and explored all the grounds. Beautiful grounds with lovely flowers (and a stunning magnolia tree) and lots and lots of very cute lambs running around in the fields. Would definitely recommend a trip if you're looking for a lovely day out.
