Came to eat here as it’s the start of the Nottingham Ghost Walk. So glad we did, great atmosphere, fantastic, hard working team and lovely food. Great start to the ghost walk. Also the oldest pub in England and served the Crusaders before going to Jerusalem. Well worth a visit, butted up against the wall of Nottingham Castle

Stunning pub with an enormously rich heritage, built into the foundation Nottingham Castle. Gets quite busy, but has a large terrace in front for extra space. Food options were limited on the day we went, and the food was just ok. It's a small space, which I think slowed down service as well

The pub is very old and characteristic. It was built inside the caves and it's stunning inside. We had a typical British lunch: fish&chips, mac and cheese and steak pie as per pisctures attached. Plus 3 beers we have paid 50 quid. Very cozy and relaxing. Definitely a must in Nottingham.

You definitely have to visit if you're in Nottingham. Have a walk around, take photos and do have a drink (maybe a bite too, like I did 😂.. And oh the chicken sharer was nice). The tables have numbers on them and that's what you order to, from the till. Oh, this place is popular so you might find a queue at the till (I did), depending on the time you visit. Service was fantastic, everyone was helpful and nice.

Established in 1189, the pub rests against Castle Rock, upon which Nottingham Castle is built, and is attached to several caves, carved out of the soft sandstone. These were reputedly originally used as a brewhouse for the castle, dating from the medieval period. This is a Greene King owned and operated pub, and as you'd expect, the Real Ale was great and in good condition. The staff were busy, but very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating was available (visited on a weekday) and after the lunchtime rush. The pub is walking distance to the Robin Hood statue and Brewhouse Yard.
