St. Giles' Barbers

Alex took great care over the haircut I had this morning. I was happy with his work and will continue to make future appointments with him.

So this absolutely the last time I will be going to St. Giles barbers... here's why. I arrived for my appointment and the two staff were sat down just relaxing. When I said I was here for my appointment, Alex sighed and almost groaned. I could just tell he didn't want to cut my hair to begin with. Then I sat down and explained that I'd like the fringe shortened but enough still left so that it could be swept to the side. He seemed annoyed by this and then said " OK YOU measure it.... and show me how much you want cut off ". A normal barber would take the comb and suggest an amount ... and politely say " How about this? Would that be OK?" Not just tell the customer to do it themselves. Alex cut my hair in silence and I was relieved when he finished. And to finish it all off... the card machine failed and had to be restarted. Plus, during all this time, the other barber was sat next to me in the other barber chair with his feet up on the counter. Pathetic service. Utterly dreadful. It's a shame because this used to be a good place when it was new and first opened. After a few bad experiences here, I have given them the benefit of the doubt for the last time. I will find somewhere better... somewhere that treats its customers with just a little bit of respect.

Since moving to Oxford I spent 5 years trying to find a good barber. I have now found Alex, at St Giles Barbers. Always very well presented and listens to what I want. Couldn’t find better.

Alex is a great barber and gives great advice about hair... which is much appreciated as I grow older and my hair gets thinner. Also, will chat when you need a chat but also knows when you want to be in silence. Perfect barber. If Alex moved barber's, I'd follow to guarantee a good quality haircut.
